Abbe R. Tiger is an attorney with over 25 years of experience in criminal matters and securities regulatory litigation. Ms. Tiger began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, New York. In that capacity, Ms. Tiger tried more than twenty felony cases to verdict and handled approximately a dozen appeals.
In June 1987, Ms. Tiger joined the staff of the US Securities and Exchange Commission Division of Enforcement. Early in her tenure at the SEC, Ms. Tiger investigated numerous cases relating to such issues as insider trading, financial fraud and market manipulation. During her last three years at the Commission, Ms. Tiger served as a Branch Chief supervising a group of attorneys who conducted similar types of investigations.
Upon leaving the SEC in 1995, Ms. Tiger joined Merrill Lynch & Company as a Vice President and Senior Counsel in the Office of General Counsel Regulatory Affairs Group. In that position, Ms. Tiger represented Merrill Lynch and dozens of individual employees and managers in over 100 regulatory inquiries and investigations conducted by the SEC, FINRA, Department of Labor, and others. The regulatory matters that Ms. Tiger handled related to all aspects of Merrill Lynch's business as a registered broker/dealer and a registered investment adviser. Subsequently, Ms. Tiger was the head of the Internal Reviews Group and an Assistant General Counsel in the Regulatory Affairs Group. In addition to continuing responsibility for regulatory matters, Ms. Tiger supervised a group of attorneys and paralegals who conducted hundreds of internal investigations of potential violations of firm policies, federal and state securities laws and SRO rules.
Ms. Tiger received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Buffalo (SUNY) and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Buffalo Law School. Ms. Tiger is admitted to the bars of New York State and the Federal District Courts of the Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of New York. Ms. Tiger is rated AV® Preeminent™ 4.9 out of 5 by Martindale. She holds the NITA Advocate designation bestowed upon her by the Board of Trustees of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Ms. Tiger is a member of the New York City Bar Committee on Professional Responsibility for the 2010-2013 term.
